Tarka Dahl
A classic British Indian Restaurant tarka dahl made with a pre-cooked base sauce. Rich, fragrant and ready in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

- ¼ tspn cayenne pepper
- ¾ large tin pinto beans or chickpeas
- ½ tspn salt
- ½ small tin red kidney beans
- ¼ tspn garam masala
- ½ tspn fresh ginger
- Tarka
- ½ tspn garlic
- 100 gm onion
- 2 tbspn chopped tomatoes
Method

Finely chop the ginger and garlic.

Thinly slice the onion into rings and then cut the rings in half.

Lightly crush ½ of the pinto beans and put them into a non-stick saucepan.

Add the rest of the pinto beans and the kidney beans.

Add the ginger, garlic, tomatoes, cayenne pepper, salt and garam masala.

Add some water to loosen the mixture and mix well (optionally can use some masala sauce instead of water).
