Currywurst
Berlin's favourite street food — grilled bratwurst sliced and smothered in a curried ketchup sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 bratwurst sausage
- 1 tspn vegetable oil
- 3 tbspn tomato ketchup
- 1 tbspn tomato passata
- 1 tspn curry powder
- ½ tspn sweet paprika
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
- 1 tspn Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tspn sugar

Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the bratwurst over a medium heat, turning regularly, for until cooked through and browned.

Meanwhile, mix the ketchup, passata, curry powder, paprika, cayenne, Worcestershire sauce and sugar in a small saucepan.

Warm the sauce gently over a low heat for , stirring occasionally.

Slice the bratwurst into thick rounds and arrange on a plate or in a bowl.

Pour the curry sauce over the top and dust with a little extra curry powder.
Notes
- Serve with chips or a bread roll — this is street food, not fine dining.
- Adjust the cayenne to taste — some like it mild, some like it fiery.
- For authenticity, use a German bratwurst, not a regular pork sausage.
