Horseshoe Sandwich
USA inspired horseshoe sandwich featuring Oven chips as required. A world classic for one.
Ingredients
- Oven chips as required
- ¼ tspn cayenne pepper
- 2 rasher's of bacon - your choice
- 2 eggs
- 25 gm of butter
- 120 ml beer - your choice
- 75 gm mature cheddar cheese
- 1 tbspn oil
- ½ tspn worcestershire sauce
- 1 gammon steak - see picture
- ¼ tspn mustard powder
- 2 slices of bread - I use Hovis Granary
- ¼ tspn salt
- Paprika for garnish
Method

Preheat the oven and bake the oven chips as stated on the packaging.

Trim the fat from the gammon steak.

Trim the fat from the bacon.

Grill the bacon until well done, then set aside.

Using a non-stick saucepan over a low heat, melt the butter and then add the cheese, stirring constantly and regularly removing from the heat until the cheese melts, then mix in the worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, salt and cayenne pepper and set aside.

Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites, discard the whites and set aside the yolks.

Beat the egg yolks with the beer and set aside.

Grate the cheese.
